OEM Bag Manufacturer Workflow: From Your Tech Pack to Shipment, Day by Day

Seven steps for a bag built to your specification. We confirm the production schedule after reviewing the specification, material availability and target quantity. Allow separate time for sample approval and freight.
Day 0

Tech pack received

Drawings in cm, BOM, construction notes, logo files and target quantity. NDA signed first if requested. Missing fields are listed back to you the same day against the tech pack guide.
Day 1–2

Engineering review and quote

Designers check every dimension, fabric availability from 200+ suppliers and hardware sizing; the quote lists fabric, labour, hardware, logo and packaging as separate lines with a lead time each.
Day 2–4

Pattern making

Pattern cut from your drawing, not from a similar model, so the sample measures to your spec within ±1 cm. Custom mould drawings released now so the 10–15 day window overlaps sampling.
Day 4–10

Sample sewn and measured

Existing showroom samples are free, with courier paid by the buyer. Custom prototypes take 5–7 working days after the specification is confirmed. We quote the prototype fee, courier charge and any sample-fee credit before work starts.
Day 10–13

Approval and deposit

ODM Bags Workflow: From Model Selection to Shipment, Day by Day

Six steps for a bag modified from one of our models. The pattern already exists, which removes 2–3 days from sampling and most of the engineering risk.
Day 0

Brief and model shortlist

Bag type, target price, quantity and a reference photo. We return 2–4 models from the current 100+ with photos, dimensions in cm, fabric and unit price range, usually within 24 hours.
Day 1–2

Modification list

You mark changes: fabric from the nine families, Pantone colour, pocket add or remove, strap width, hardware finish, logo method, packaging. Each change is priced as a line.
Day 2–7

Modified sample

Existing showroom samples are free, with courier paid by the buyer. Custom prototypes take 5–7 working days after the specification is confirmed. We quote the prototype fee, courier charge and any sample-fee credit before work starts.
Day 7–9

Approval and deposit

The quotation and order documents confirm the payment schedule, inspection arrangements and shipment-release requirements. Review these terms before approving the order.

Bulk production

Same lines, same inline inspection as OEM. Because the pattern is proven, first-run defect rates on ODM bags are typically lower than on a new OEM pattern.

NDA Before Sampling

A mutual NDA is signed on request before any file is opened; your template or ours, returned within 1 working day. It covers drawings, artwork, pricing and order volumes.

Tech packs, patterns, lab dips, screens, embroidery tapes and moulds are stored under your project code and are not shown to or reused for other buyers, including 1,000+ existing clients.

Common problems

OEM ODM Bag Manufacturer Problems and How the Factory Prevents Them

Six issues buyers report from previous suppliers on OEM and ODM projects, and the control that removes each one here.
Tech pack sample looks like a different bag
Cause: factory sewed from a similar model instead of the drawing. Control: OEM patterns are cut from your drawing; the sample card lists every dimension against the spec at ±1 cm.
Tech pack missing fields delays the quote a week
Cause: questions sent one at a time. Control: a single missing-field list returned the same day against the tech pack guide; quote issued in 1–2 days once answered.
ODM bag is identical to a competitor’s
Cause: base model sold unmodified to several buyers. Control: modification list with fabric, colour, pocket and branding changes; your version is filed under your code and not offered as a base to others.
Design files reused by the supplier
Cause: no NDA, no file control. Control: NDA before sampling; files, screens and moulds stored under your project code; tooling released to you on request.
Price rises after the sample
Cause: layers added during sampling without re-quoting. Control: every change on the modification list is priced before it is sewn; see cost factors.
First bulk run has a 5–8% defect rate on a new pattern
Cause: bulk started without a pilot. Control: first 20–30 bags of any new OEM pattern inspected before the line continues; final AQL inspection on every order.

OEM ODM Bags: Frequently Asked Questions

OEM means we manufacture your design from your tech pack; ODM means we supply our own design, modified with your fabric, colour, logo and packaging. OEM samples take 7–10 days, ODM 5–7. MOQ, lines and inspection are the same. The OEM / ODM guide goes deeper.
A drawing with dimensions in cm, a bill of materials and construction notes is enough; the tech pack guide has a template. Without one, our 10+ designers draw the pack from photos and target dimensions, which moves the project to the ODM timeline of 5–7 days plus 1–2 days of drawing.
No. 300 pieces on both routes. Custom moulds and printed boxes have their own economic thresholds (usually 500–1,000 pcs) regardless of route; see the MOQ guide.
The unmodified base model remains in our range. Your modified version, colourway, logo and print are filed under your project code and not offered to other buyers. Most ODM buyers change 20–30% of the structure plus branding so the bag is distinct on the shelf.
Yes, before any file is opened, on your template or ours, within 1 working day. It covers drawings, artwork, pricing and volumes. Moulds and tooling you pay for are your property and are released on request.
Yes. Many startup brands launch on an ODM base, then send a tech pack for a redesigned second version once they have 60–90 days of sales data. The golden sample and lab dips from the first order carry over.
