Where Travel Bags Fail: Handles, Seams and Sizing

Travel bags fail at airports and on trails, which is where nobody can fix them. These three are where returns come from.

The handle tears out of the weekender

A loaded 50 L weekender concentrates 10–15 kg on two handle anchors. We run the handle webbing under the base as a continuous loop rather than stitching it to the side panel, and bar-tack every anchor. This is the single most common weekender failure and it is a pattern decision.

The “waterproof” bag is only water-resistant

Our Guangzhou team coordinates design, cutting, sewing, printing and packing. Specialist logo or sealed-compartment requirements are reviewed during sampling, with the process and inspection criteria confirmed for your bag.

It does not fit the overhead locker

Carry-on limits are typically around 55 × 40 × 20 cm but vary by airline and shrink on low-cost carriers. A weekender specified by litres alone can miss. We pattern to a stated external dimension, loaded, and check it against a frame at sample stage.

Custom samples take 5–7 working days after the specification is confirmed. Bulk production and repeat-order schedules are confirmed in your quotation, based on the construction, materials, quantity and production availability. Welded products occasionally add time if the tarpaulin is out of network.
