A toiletry bag is specified by lining, hook and pocket map. It is used on a wet counter, hung from a 1–1.5 kg load and wiped clean weekly, so the lining and hook matter more than the shell.

4–6 L, 600D shell, TPU lining, folding metal hook, 3 clear pockets and 4 bottle loops. Opens to 55–65 cm and hangs from a rail or door.

Where Toiletry Bags Fail: and What We Do About It

Toiletry bags fail at the hook, in the lining and at the clear pocket. All three are visible after 30 days of travel and none of them show in a product photo.

The hook tears out of the back panel

A loaded toiletry bag hangs 1–1.5 kg from one 4–5 cm hook, and a hook riveted through a single layer of 600D pulls out within a season. We back the hook with a 3 × 3 cm internal reinforcement, sew the anchor through a webbing loop and bar-tack it 3 times. The hook is checked at final inspection.

The lining wicks and the shell stains

A stitched lining with untaped seams lets shampoo through to the shell within weeks. We use 0.1–0.15 mm TPU or PEVA, tape every internal seam and weld the wet section on the wet-dry build so nothing crosses to the shell. See wet-dry gym bags for the same principle.

The clear pocket clouds and cracks

Thin clear PVC yellows and cracks at the fold within 6–12 months. We specify 0.2–0.3 mm clear TPU for the pockets, keep the fold line away from the zip and bind the pocket edge with 10–12 mm tape so the zip is sewn to tape, not to film.
