A yoga duffel is a softer, lighter gym duffel with the mat carried outside. The mat straps and their anchors are the specification that a plain duffel does not have.

The mat holder is where this bag differs from a gym duffel, and where it fails. Three points, all settled on the prototype with a loaded bag and a real mat.

The mat slides out of the straps

Two smooth webbing straps around a smooth mat let it walk sideways within a few hundred metres of carry. We fit 25 mm straps with side-release buckles set 30–35 cm apart, add a 3–5 mm silicone print on the strap face on retail builds, and cradle the mat in a 10 cm fabric saddle so it cannot roll.

The soft body collapses onto the mat

A softer 300D shell folds around a mat under the base and the bag loses its shape on a shoulder. We fit a 1–1.5 mm PE board in the base sleeve, anchor the mat straps through that board rather than the fabric alone, and keep the shoe pocket at the end so the base stays flat.

Damp kit and shoes share a wall

A hot-yoga towel in a stitched pouch next to the shoe pocket transfers both moisture and odour. We weld the PEVA pouch, hang it on a hook so it lifts out, place it at the opposite end from the shoes, and vent the shoe pocket through 100–200 GSM mesh.

Custom Yoga Duffel Bags: Frequently Asked Questions

Lighter shell at 300–600D or canvas, softer shape, 30–45 L instead of 35–55 L, and a mat carried outside on buckled straps. A gym duffel has a bigger shoe tunnel and no mat holder. Both share a base pattern, so the two can run on one fabric booking.
Buckled 25 mm straps adjust from about 10 cm to 17 cm rolled diameter, covering 4 mm travel mats to 8 mm studio mats. Send the mat you pair with and we set the saddle width and strap spacing to it.
Yes. The standard build has a removable welded PEVA pouch; the wet-dry variant has a welded sample-approved TPU base tray built on the same jig as our wet-dry gym bags, leak-checked on every prototype.
