Nylon weekender

45 L, 600D polyester or 840D nylon, 25 mm webbing handles, trolley sleeve, shoe pocket, contrast lining.

Where Weekender Bags Fail: and What We Do About It

A loaded weekender is 10–15 kg carried by two handles and one sleeve. The three failures below are structural, and all three are decided by pattern before bulk.

The handle tears out of the side panel

A handle stitched to the side panel concentrates 10–15 kg on two 4 × 4 cm patches. We run the 25–30 mm handle webbing under the base as a continuous loop, so the load is carried by the loop and the base rather than the panel, and bar-tack every anchor. This is the single most common weekender return.

The base scuffs and the feet pull through

Airport floors and car boots abrade a 600D base in one season, and feet riveted through a single layer tear out. We use a 1680D or PU base panel, back each foot with a 3 × 3 cm internal washer and check the base at final inspection.

The silhouette collapses on the shelf and on the shoot

A soft weekender with no structure folds into a heap at retail. We add a 1.5–2 mm EVA or non-woven interlining to the base and end panels, set the gusset at 25–30 cm and check the standing shape against the golden sample on every carton at packing inspection.

Yes, both are standard options. The trolley sleeve seams are reinforced with 20 mm webbing and bar-tacked because they take the full 10–15 kg when the bag rides on luggage.
Usually, if patterned to a stated external dimension. Carry-on limits are typically around 55 × 40 × 20 cm; a 50 L soft body can be shaped to that, and we check the loaded prototype in a frame. Above 55 L it becomes luggage.
