Where Drawstring Sports Bags Fail: and What We Do About It

Corners, cords and print. Three failures that separate a bag that lasts a season from one that lasts a week.

The corners rip out

The two bottom corners take the full load through a single cord each time the bag is worn. A cord tied through a bare hole in 210D tears in days. We set a 25 mm webbing tab or a PU corner patch with a 10–12 mm metal eyelet at each corner, bar-tacked through a 600D reinforcement, and pull-test it on the sample.

The cords fray and the channel tears

Thin cord saws through an unbound channel within a season. We use 5–6 mm polypropylene cord with heat-sealed ends, bind the channel with 20–25 mm woven tape and 2 lines of stitching, and reinforce the cord exits with a bar-tack.

Test to the agreed specification

A thick screen print over 30 × 35 cm on light polyester cracks as the bag folds. We use a flexible ink system for 1–4 colours, recommend sublimation on white polyester for all-over or multi-colour artwork, and keep heat transfer for small sponsor marks. Artwork at 300 DPI in AI or PDF.

210D for one-use promo, 300–600D for anything a club member will carry for a season, white 300D if you want an all-over sublimation print, non-woven only for single-use event bags. The material guide compares them.
Screen print at 1–4 colours on the 30 × 35 cm front panel; sublimation on white polyester has no colour limit and prints edge to edge. Above 3 colours sublimation is usually cheaper. See the logo method guide.
With a 25 mm webbing tab or a PU patch and a 10–12 mm metal eyelet bar-tacked through a 600D reinforcement, yes; we pull-test the sample. A cord through a bare hole in 210D tears in days, which is what most promo bags are.
Polyester is stocked in 20+ shades and dyed to Pantone for larger runs; cord comes in stock colours. Each colour is its own lot at 300 pieces. See materials & colors.
Custom samples take 5–7 working days after the specification is confirmed. Bulk production and repeat-order schedules are confirmed in your quotation, based on the construction, materials, quantity and production availability. Give us the event date and we schedule backwards and confirm line time in writing.
