Where Drawstring Gym Bags Fail: and What We Do About It

A drawstring bag has three stress points and no hardware to hide them. Each one is a construction choice that costs a few grams and a few seconds to get right.

The corner eyelet pulls through

The whole load of the bag hangs from two eyelets. An eyelet punched through a single layer of 210D tears out at 2–3 kg. We build a 4-layer corner tab from folded shell plus a 420D reinforcement patch, set an 8–10 mm eyelet through it and pull-test the prototype to 10 kg per corner.

The cord frays or saws through the channel

A thin 3 mm cord cuts through a single-stitched channel within weeks of daily use. We specify 4–6 mm braided cord with heat-sealed ends, a 2.5–3 cm double-stitched channel and a bar-tack at each channel mouth where the cord turns the corner.

The print cracks after the first wash

A thick screen print on 210D polyester cracks along the fold when the bag is stuffed. We keep ink deposits thin on light fabrics, offer sublimation on white polyester where the artwork is full-colour, and wash-test the prototype 5 cycles before the golden sample is sealed.

Custom Drawstring Gym Bags: Frequently Asked Questions

From 300 pieces, the same as every bag we build. The low unit cost means a 300-piece run is a small order value, which is why event buyers often move to 1,000–5,000. See the MOQ guide.
210D for a giveaway that will be used a handful of times; 420D for anything sold at retail or carried daily. 420D roughly doubles the shell weight and takes a zip pocket. The material guide compares both.
The standard face is 25 × 30 cm; on a 40 × 48 cm bag we can print edge to edge by sublimation on white polyester. Screen print is priced per colour per position; artwork at 300 DPI in AI or PDF. See graphics & printing.
Our corner is a 4-layer tab with an 8–10 mm metal eyelet, pull-tested to 10 kg per corner on the prototype. Folded-corner bags with no eyelet fail at 2–3 kg; we do not build them that way unless asked in writing.
Custom samples take 5–7 working days after the specification is confirmed. Bulk production and repeat-order schedules are confirmed in your quotation, based on the construction, materials, quantity and production availability. Send the in-hand date and we work back to a sample deadline with you.
Yes: a #3 front zip pocket at 18 × 20 cm, a mesh side pocket for a 500 ml bottle, or both. Each adds 3–4 operations. A full-mesh body for wet kit is built as a mesh swim bag.
