Waterproof Pouch Specifications

On a waterproof pouch the closure is the product. TPU gauge, window clarity and seal type decide what the pouch can be sold to do, so those are the lines to fix first.

Seal type sets the depth claim and the cost. The four builds below run from a promo zip-lock to a roll-top pouch that holds a wallet and keys.

Clip-seal phone pouch

Two or three snap clips over a folded TPU lip, clear on both faces, neck lanyard. The beach-retail and event-giveaway volume SKU.

Roll-top swim pouch

2–5 L TPU body, 3-fold roll-top with a side-release buckle. Holds keys, wallet and a small towel; the poolside and open-water build.

Where Waterproof Pouches Fail: and What We Do About It

A pouch either keeps a phone dry or it does not. Three construction points decide it, and all three are checked on the prototype.

The seal lets water past the corners

A clip seal fails at the two ends where the folded lip meets the side weld, because the fold has to compress three layers there. We weld a 5–8 mm side seam that runs 10 mm past the seal line and shape the clip ends to cover it, then dunk-test the prototype for 30 minutes at arm depth.

The film clouds and the touchscreen stops working

Low-grade or thick film goes hazy and loses touch response through it. We use clear sample-approved TPU rather than PVC on the window faces, check touch response on the prototype, and keep the print and any texture off the window area.

The print cracks and the lanyard loop tears

Ink on TPU cracks where the pouch is flexed, and a lanyard loop welded too close to the seal pulls the weld open. We print at least 10 mm inside the weld line with a flexible ink system, weld the lanyard tab into the side seam as a separate 20 mm patch, and pull-test it on the sample.

Custom Waterproof Pouches: Frequently Asked Questions

The clip-seal and roll-top builds are: welded sample-approved TPU, dunk-tested on the prototype for 30 minutes at arm depth. The zip-lock promo build is splash-proof only. If your product page will state a depth or IPX rating, that needs buyer-commissioned lab testing; we build to the closure spec that supports the claim and can send samples to the lab you choose.
Yes on clear TPU faces; we check touch response on the prototype. Face recognition and fingerprint sensors generally do not work through any film. See sample development.
From 300 pieces. Event orders of 1,000–10,000 in one print are the most common shape. See the MOQ guide.
Print only: screen or pad print in 1–2 colours, kept 10 mm inside the weld line and off the window. Embroidery, rivets and metal badges punch through the film and are not offered. See the logo method guide.
The standard internal size of 10–12 × 18–22 cm takes screens to about 7 in with a slim case. Send the largest device you need to fit and we size the pouch and the clip length to it.
Custom tooling needs a separate quote and schedule.
Existing showroom samples are free, with courier paid by the buyer. Custom prototypes take 5–7 working days after the specification is confirmed. We quote the prototype fee, courier charge and any sample-fee credit before work starts. free sample.
